Pritzker Signs Healthcare Legislation to Address Primary Care Shortage in Illinois

On Tuesday, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed two bills into law aimed at addressing primary care shortages in Illinois, KVFS 12 reports.

SB3017 is meant to address a shortage of healthcare providers, specifically with attention to obstetrical services. The bill is an amendment to the Loan Repayment Assistance for Physicians Act and will allow physicians that provide obstetrical care and work at a privately owned rural health clinic in the State of Illinois to qualify for assistance.

SB1435 is meant to help with health center mergers and increased healthcare coordination in rural communities. The bill is an amendment to the Hospital Licensing Act and will allow qualified hospitals to operate in more than one location under the same license.

Both amendments are effective immediately.
